Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10, 1949) is an American businesswoman, investor, speaker, consultant writer, syndicated columnist, author, and television personality. The Corcoran Group, an NYC-based real estate brokerage was established by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran then left the company. Corcoran was a participant in 12 episodes of ABC's Shark Tank seasons. She has been involved in 53 deals since February, 2020. The largest was a $350,000 investment that will cover 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second of 10 children in a working class Irish-Catholic family. Florence, her mother, was a household worker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was a bouncing from job to job throughout Corcoran's early years. Her family often relied on free food deliveries from the local grocer. Corcoran remembers her fatheras one who would drink excessively, and treated her mother disrespectfully and condescendingly, especially after he'd consumed some drinks. Corcoran struggled in school, and discovered later that she had dyslexia. Corcoran entered high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after having attended an Catholic elementary school. Corcoran, who had failed several courses in her first year of high school, was transferred to Leonia High School. There she was awarded a D.
