Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris (born October 20 1964) was an American lawyer, politician, and the current vice president of United States. She is the first female vice president , and the highest-ranking female politician in U.S. history, as being the first African American and first Asian American vice president. Harris is a member of the Democratic Party and was previously the attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017. In addition she served as a United States senator representing California between 2017-2021. Harris was born in Oakland and attended Howard University, University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Her professional career started with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later recruited to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. She was elected San Francisco district attorney in 2003. She was elected Attorney general of California in 2010. In 2014, she was re-elected. Harris was the United States junior senator from California from 2017 until 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate election, becoming the second African American woman and the first South Asian American to serve in the United States Senate. She was a senator and advocated for healthcare reform as well as federal cannabis de-scheduling the possibility of citizenship for immigrants without a legal status and the DREAM Act, a ban against assault weapons, and progressive tax reform. Her most well-known accomplishments are her pointed questions of Trump administration officials during Senate hearings.
